Art On The Outside Program, West Hollywood, CA

Art on the Outside is a program of the West Hollywood Fine Arts Commission to install temporary exhibits of engaging and exploratory contemporary art in public spaces throughout the City. The program works with artists who wish to explore outdoor space and/or who wish to bring their art out of the traditional and at times limiting confines of galleries into the public realm. Also embracing new media it utilizes the exhibition possibilities of two large video billboard screens situated on the Sunset Strip.

Along the Santa Monica Boulevard median we initiated, developed and managed:

  • Edges and Hedges: a series of seven, temporary site specific art installations
  • Desert Cloud: a collaboration with the MAK Center for Art and Architecture and their artist in residence, Bernhard Sommer of Austria
  • Sculpture installations by Everd Hilgemann and John Clement

And on the Sunset Strip Video Billboards:

  • TV or NOT TV: digital and video presentations produced in collaboration with LA Freewaves, a bi-annual exhibition and exploration of digital and new media arts
